Project: Researching the maritime tradition of Andros island with the purpose of collecting data for the re-interpretation of local maritime history in the museum and the production of educational material for the school community
Research questions: How can we approach the maritime past in the museum space?
How can we represent local maritime identities through the medium of exhibitions? How the data will be presented:
1) Museological plan proposal for an exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Andros
2) Educational resources for use by the local school community (both in the museum space and the classroom)
Principal researchers: Dr Anastasia Filippoupoliti, museologist; Helen Beneki, maritime historian.
Sites: Archive research (local archival records, private and company archives in England, Romania and Greece), interviews
Time span: 2 years
